Fall 2025 Student Analysis

Dr. Glenn Lang gifted this article from The New York Times. It paints a complex portrait of college students entering this fall. The majority do not fit the profile of students attending elite top 1% universities although that population garners the most media attention.

The typical college student is quietly working hard to complete their degree. There are more than 19 million college students and 43 percent of them attend community college. Of those, 75 percent attend part time. Many students are parents and nine percent of them are single mothers. Online classes and programs continue to change how students interact with their institution. And debt continues to impact families with significant race and gender gaps in the amount of financed costs.

It reminds us that there is still so much work to do. We are the experts with the answers.
