Emma Willard School Seeks DEI

Emma Willard School seeks applications and nominations of student-centered, systems-oriented, and equity-minded individuals for their next head of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The head of DEI provides direct supervision of a full-time associate director of DEI and serves as the staff liaison to the DEI committee of the board of trustees. This is an on-site and residential role, and the anticipated start date is July 2024.

An earned master’s degree is preferred, though outstanding candidates with a bachelor’s degree and substantial experience will be considered. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished strategist, convener, and community builder with a documented history of success in leading organizational initiatives on diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice.

The Emma Willard School in Troy, NY, is a historic, inclusive, and prestigious private boarding and day school for girls in grades nine to 12. Founded in 1814 by Emma Hart Willard, it was the first school of higher learning for young women in the United States and remains a trailblazer in girls’ education. Emma Willard boasts a global and diverse student body with 362 students from 36 countries and 20 states, 31 percent self-identified students of color, 28 percent international student population, and a 65:35 boarding-to-day ratio.
