University of Nebraska at Omaha Searching for a Chief Diversity Officer

The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) has a national search for a Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) and invites nominations and applications for the position. Chancellor Joanne Li seeks a passionate, energetic, resolute leader prepared to support her vision of an engaged, collaborative, and welcoming metropolitan university. Reporting directly to the Chancellor, serving on the University’s leadership team, the CDO will be a highly influential leader focused on deepening UNO’s ongoing efforts to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive community for all faculty, staff, and students.

The CDO will serve as a thought leader within the UNO Community and collaborate with key stakeholders to develop a cohesive DEI plan for the campus, create programming initiatives, and build partnerships across campus and in the community.

The next CDO should have have:
• a master’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution, (terminal degree or doctorate preferred),
• significant years of experience in higher education administration,
• success in working with diverse constituents on complex issues and a high level of cultural awareness, sensitivity, empathy, and discretion,
• a passion for the work, an ability to challenge and motivate, be welcoming of a wide variety of perspectives and modes of action and the ability to lead conversations about difficult topics.
