Opportunity to be the Executive Director of Equal Opportunity at Boston University

The Executive Director of Equal Opportunity at Boston University (BU) provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for all facets of the Equal Opportunity Office (EOO), including discrimination and harassment complaint investigation, Title IX, Affirmative Action, and disability accommodation (ADA) for faculty and staff. The executive director will:

  • bring a deep, informed understanding of Title VII, Title IX, ADA/Section 504, Clery, FERPA, and VAWA regulations and their application within a higher education institution to the role—JD strongly preferred;
  • support and advance the transformation of the EOO from a transactional to proactive organization, expanding opportunities for educational outreach and prevention, training, and collaboration across the University;
  • possess demonstrated strategic, managerial experience, including the ability to build capacity, develop a high functioning cohesive team, and optimize fiscal and data management resources;
  • manage a budget of approximately $1.2 million and an expanding team that as of July 2021 will include seven staff—a Title IX coordinator, three Equal Opportunity/Title IX investigators (one of whom is an assistant director), one assistant director of compliance (ADA and Affirmative Action), one Equal Opportunity/ADA specialist, and one administrative coordinator/data analyst.
